Mr. J. A. Krebs 2 April 20, 1987
be sampled according to the Order of Compliance which
was signed 24 June 1985 . Your letter dated 22 July
1985 proposed one core sample to be taken from the
center of each area. This proposal is inadequate since
several samples are required for characterization.
The order signed by Lustre-Cal 27 June 1985 requires
that the underground bunker be removed and the soil
from underneath said bunker must be analyzed for
contamination. The areas mentioned where hazardous
waste has been disposed of must be extensively sampled
to the satisfaction of the Department of Health
Services. It is highly recommended by the Department
that the services of a professional engineer familiar
with hazardous waste be retained by Lustre-Cal for the
development of the remedial work required.
If you should have any questions or comments please contact
Hector Magallanes, Waste Management Engineer, at (916) 739-3980.
Sincerely, /
James Tjosvold, P.E.
`"nior Waste Management Engineer
HM:jka
cc: Mr. Mike Floyd, Regional Water Quality Control Board,
Sacramento
San Joaquin County Health Department, Stockton
