Washington St
Stockton CA 95201
Subject: UST Site#3 LOP Case #: 1282124
Port Rd 13 at G St CU F#: 013777
Stockton, CA 95201 Global ID #: T0607700817
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed
Updated Site Conceptual Model and In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) Pilot Test Work
Plans (SCM-WP) dated May 10, 2010, submitted by your consultant, WGR Southwest,
Inc.
The SCM-WP report covers the installation of six soil borings completed on March 24,
2010. Only groundwater grab samples were collected during this phase to further
investigate the lateral and vertical extent of the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon plume.
Included in the report was a work plan to pilot test the remedial action alternative chosen
by WGR (ozone and peroxidelperozone) that was required by the EHD in
correspondence dated December 29, 2009 and conditionally approved pending a
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) Waste Discharge
Requirement (WDR) evaluation.
Chemical analyses of the grab groundwater samples did not detect any significant
concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX), or oxygenated hydrocarbons compounds. WGR
has concluded that petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater have been delineated
around the former underground storage tank (UST) area. This, added to conclusion
included in the SCM that the lateral and vertical extents of the soil contamination have
also been adequately delineated, completes the investigative portion for the site. The
EHD concurs that the soil and groundwater plumes have been adequately delineated at
this time. After the remedial phase has been completed, the EHD may require
confirmation soil sampling to be conducted.
Also included in the SCM were two remedial pilot test work plans; the Enhanced Aerobic
Bioremediation Pilot Test Work Plan and the Ozone Pilot Test Work Plan. The overall
remedial pilot test concept is to inject ozone catalyzed by hydrogen peroxide into the
groundwater in the care/source area (RMZ-1) through three new injection points and
also inject compressed oxygen gas through four new injection points in the residual zone
(RMZ-2), just outside of the core area.
