� i ! <br /> WORK PLAN FOR ADDITIONAL <br />' SUBSURFACE SITE INVESTIGATION <br /> FOR PETROLEUM HYDROCARBONS <br />' SITE NO. 3 (SITE CODE 1282-124) <br /> PORT OF STOCKTON <br /> Site 3 - Near Port Roads G and 14 <br /> Stockton, San Joaquin County, California <br /> 1 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />' This work plan has been prepared by Philip P Ross, R G, at the request of Mr Jay Jahangir, <br /> Director of Environmental and Regulatory Affairs of the Port of Stockton (Port) The Port <br /> conducted an initial subsurface investigation for petroleum hydrocarbons at this site on August 7, <br /> 1998, in response to a "Notice of Responsibility" issued by San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Service, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) on January 26, 1998 Analyses of soil and <br /> groundwater samples collected during this investigation indicated the presence of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons in several of the borings at Site 3 Based on these findings, the PHS/EHD, in a letter <br /> dated November 20, 1998, requested that the Port conduct further investigation to evaluate the <br />' lateral and vertical extent of contaimnation at the site and conduct a supply well survey in the <br /> vicinity of the site to identify any public or environmental health threats or impacts resulting from <br /> contaminant migration from the site Subsequently, the Port and Philip Ross met with the <br /> PHS/EHD to further refine and clarify the scope and objectives of this additional subsurface site <br /> investigation This work plan is in response to the PHS/EHD request <br /> 1 <br /> 2.0 SITE BACKGROUND <br /> 1 <br /> The following sections present the site description and summarize previous site characterization <br />' work Pertinent background information, upon which this section is based, is contained in the <br /> "Work Plan for Initial Subsurface Investigation," (Boyapan&Ross, Inc [B&R], 1998a) and"Initial <br /> Subsurface Investigation of Petroleum Hydrocarbons," (B&R, 1998b) <br /> 1 <br /> 1 <br /> • <br />' a3addmv WM 1 PHILIP P.
