Page 3
4. PROCEDURE IF A LEAK HAS OCCURED
If the soil test are over 100 PPM then a leak has occured,
and as noted above the County must be notified.
At this point a more comprehensive plan will be prepared,
and submitted to the County. This plan should address two
key questions.
A. Defining the extent of the spill by obtaining clean soil
samples outside the boundry of the spill.
B. Proposing action to mitigate the effects of the spill.
Because the condition of the soil is unknown, at this time,
a comprehensive plan can not be prepared. However, items
that should be considered are as follows:
A. Testing and defining N
1. A scale plot plan will be required.
2. Water table depth will be required.
3. Location of the borings need to be shown.
4. Determine the depth of the borings.
5. Establish the design of the borings.
6. Establish the testing procedure to be followed.
7. Define the nature of soil formations expected.
8. Locate any water wells on the property.
B. Action to mitigate the effects of the spill
1. Excavation of the soil, with over 100 PPM, and on
site aeration.
2. Excavation of the soil, with over 100 PPM, and haul-
ing it to a class I dump site.
3. Recovery wells and treatment or disposal of the
liquid waste.
4. Recycling wells and on site water stripping.
5. Bacteriol injection and monitoring.
By: W.F. Lewis Construction, Inc.
