This information is included to serve as a workplan for destruction of the three
monitoring wells designated MW5-1, MW5-2 and MW5-3. All wells shall be destroyed in a
manner which will not produce water, act as a conduit for the interchange of water, or present a
hazard to the safety and well being of people and or animals.
Upon approval by San Joaquin County Public Health Service, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD),the following procedures will be employed in the field:
1- A C-57 licensed contractor will be hired to perform the work. In our telephone conversation
of April 26, 2000, you indicated that V&W Drilling, is very familiar with the destruction
standards of San Joaquin County PHS/EHD.
I
2. The work schedule will be coordinated by the Port with for the designated contractor to
perform the work. The Port will also coordinate with PHS/EHD to inspect the procedures to
its satisfaction.
3. Total depth of each well will be sounded with a weighted tape measure and compared to the
depth recorded on the original boring logs created on May 17, 1999. Total volume of each 2-
inch diameter well has been calculated by multiplying the total depth by the factor 0.17 gallons
per foot(correlation for 2-inch diameter wells). 25 feet times 0.17 gallons per foot yields 4.25
gallons per well of neat cement.
4. A tremmie pipe or hose will be put down the well until it rests less than 5-feet off the bottom,
to assure that no bridging of the cement occurs.
ust-sites well destruction worlpten.doc
F7ost Office BOX 2080 • Stockton, CA • 05201-2080 • E-mail: porlmaiWDstocktonporl,com
Administration Office: 2201 -Vest xvasE-)ington Street .
