of soil sampling, the borehole will be backfilled using a sand-cement slurry containing five
L. percent bentonite as described in Appendix B.
Unused soil samples from the boring and rinsate from decontamination of probe equipment will
LA be containerized in U. S. Department of Transportation approved 55-gallon drums. These
drums will be properly sealed and labeled, and will be secured within a fenced area of the
L. Port's property. Recommendations will be provided in the technical report for appropriate
disposal of these drums in a timely manner, based on the findings of this characterization work.
3.2 LABORATORY TESTING
La The soil and groundwater samples will be submitted under chain-of-custody procedures to BSK
Analytical Laboratories, a California DHS-certified laboratory for PHC analyses. Samples will
• be analyzed for BTEX, TPHg, and MTBE using EPA methods 8020/8015; and for total lead
using EPA method 200.8. if MTBE is detected in a sample using EPA method 8020, that
sample will be run for oxygenates utilizing EPA method 8260.
Le
3.3 TECHNICAL REPORT
Upon completion of the field investigation and laboratory testing, a Site Investigation and
Ld Evaluation report will be prepared summarizing results and findings, following Tri-Regional
Board Staff Recommendations (Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, 1991).
The data obtained during this investigation will be evaluated along with the historical data
collected from the site to evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of PHCs beneath the site.
Based on these findings, appropriate actions will be recommended. This report will also
include a figure depicting the site location and existing features, a geologic cross section
depicting PHC-impacted areas and the depth to groundwater, tabulated analytical results, and
copies of all permits obtained for the work.
3.4 HEALTH AND SAFETY
B&R Health and Safety plan for the subsurface investigation is provided in Appendix E. A
L. copy of this plan will be available on-site during the field work. This plan is not intended for
use by other contractor's personnel involved with this work.
5 981171S4USTINv.WPN
V
JDc BOYAJIAN & ROSS, INC.
■ Environmental Scienlis[s & Engineers
Y
