(3
June 6, 2014
Mr. Johnny Yoakum
Reference: Work Plan for Soil Boring Assessment
Chevron Station No.96171
6633 Pacific Avenue
Stockton, California 95207
Not an Open LUST Case
File:213202493
Proposed Scope of Work
The proposed scope of work includes two soil borings (BA-1 and BA-2) to assess the
existing gasoline USTs, and one soil boring (BA-3) to assess the downgradient area of the
existing fuel dispensers. Proposed soil boring BA-1 will also assess a former used oil UST.
Details for the activities associated with the completion of the scope of work are
provided below.
Site Health and Safety Plan
As required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) "Hazardous
Waste Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines (29 CFR 1910.120) and by
California Cal-OSHA "Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines
(CCR Title 8, Section 5192), the contractor will prepare a site specific Health and Safety
Plan (HASP). At a minimum, the HASP will define the proposed subsurface investigation
activities, describe physical and chemical hazards that may be associated with the work,
provide a map to the nearest emergency medical facility, and include material safety
data sheets for any hazardous chemicals that will be used or produced during the work. A
copy of the HASP will be available on-Site at all times during the field work. The field staff
and subcontractors performing field activities will review the HASP prior to beginning field
operations, as described in this work plan, at the Site.
Permitting
Stantec verified with SJCEHD on April 25, 2014 that shallow soil borings do require a boring
permit. Therefore, drilling permits with the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (SJCEHD) to conduct the environmental assessment will be obtained.
Drilling, Soil/Groundwater Sampling (Hollow Stem Auger)
Two proposed Baseline assessment borings (BA-1 and BA-2) will be advanced at the outer
sides of the current gasoline USTs. One proposed boring (BA-3) will be advanced to assess
the downgradient area of current fuel dispensers. Proposed borings BA-1 through BA-3 are
scheduled to be advanced with a hollow stem auger rig.
All the proposed borings will be advanced to 50 feet bgs or 5 feet below first encountered
Design with community in mind
