n _
Z F A MAffr 'J Working To Restore Nature
i
1710 Main Street
Escalon, CA 95320
Phone: (209) 838-3507
FAX: (209) 838-3509
March 31, 1994
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
RE: Property Transfer Assessment, 17168 Seidner Road, Escalon California.
To Whom It May Concern:
RESNA industries, Inc. (RESNA), on behalf of Mr. Ernie N. Stoval, is submitting this brief
workplan to conduct drilling and sampling activities associated with a property transfer
assessment at 17168 Seidner Road, in Escalon California.
The property is currently occupied by a residential building and a storage shed. Historically the
property has been used for agriculture purposes as part of an almond orchard. It is RESNA'S
understanding that the site was previously occupied by a 550 gallon underground fuel storage
tank. The farm tank which had been used to store leaded and unleaded gasoline, was removed
by Mr. Stoval in 1990. The bottom of the tank was observed to be approximately 7 feet below
ground surface at the time of removal. No soil samples were collected from beneath the former
tank location for laboratory analysis.
To investigate the possibility of soil impaction by the former tank RESNA will hand auger a
single boring in the immediate vicinity of the fill end of the former tank pit. The boring will
be advanced to depths of approximately 10 feet below grade in an attempt to determine current
soil condition. The proposed soil boring location is shown on the attached figure.
Soil samples will be collected by driving two-inch diameter brass rings into undisturbed soil,
then capping each end with teflon tape and plastic end caps. Samples will be preserved on ice
and transported under chain-of-custody to Sequoia Analytical a State-Certified laboratory. The
samples will be analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX) by EPA method
1500761LA32994.FNNI_
