M. Scott Mansholt - 2 - • 4 December 2006
SAIC requested that since several years of monitoring and sampling has been completed and
groundwater conditions have remained relatively constant, the monitoring frequency be
reduced to an annual basis. Additionally, SAIC recommended that oleophilic socks be placed
in wells containing floating product and checked monthly for one quarter to determine the
benefit of monthly inspections. If the monthly inspections are not necessary, quarterly
inspections would resume.
Regional Water Board staff concurs that oleophilic socks be installed in the remaining wells
with floating product and implement monthly inspections for one quarter. If there is no product
removal improvement, return to a quarterly inspection and product removal basis.
Documentation should be provided in the monitoring reports.
Regional Water Board staff concurs that the sampling frequency be reduced to an annual
basis. Regional Water Board staff will prepare and issue a revised Monitoring and Reporting
Plan (MRP) to reflect the modifications.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Dean Hubbard at (559 9.
SHELTON R.
