The report, dated 15 November 2006, was submitted by
Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) on behalf of Chevron.
The vacuum well, associated building, concrete oil seep vaults, and piping equipment were
installed in the 1980's to extract crude oil from shallow soil at Alden Park. The project was
unsuccessful and eventually terminated in 1994. The building, concrete oil seep vaults, and
associated piping were previously removed in accordance with City of Tracy permits.
Regional Water Board staff approved the workplan to destroy the vacuum well on 31 January
2006 and amended 21 March 2006. Additionally, a permit for the vacuum well destruction was
obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department.
According to the report, Regional Water Board staff concurs the well was properly destroyed
and no further action is needed.
