0
-s-
organic vapors as described in the subsequent section on
health and safety. Excavated dirt will be placed on plas-
tic sheets or in covered trucks . It will be removed by
Chevron the same day.
Excavations will be backfilled and resurfaced appropri-
ately. This includes repaving disrupted streets and side-
walks and replacing sod.
All work will be carried out as expediently as possible to mini-
mize disruptions in this residential area. Any excavations that
must be left overnight will be covered with a heavy steel
plate . Traffic on Palm Circle will be reduced to one lane while
work on that seep is taking place.
Health and Safety Precautions
All work at the site will be carried out in accordance with
health and safety plans prepared by the contractor performing the
task . The plans will be similar in scope to the plan submitted
in Appendix B, which is an amended version of the Health and
Safety Plan submitted with our previous Work Plan. All plans
will be reviewed by Chevron for their completeness . Contractor ' s
personnel will be expected to carry out all provisions of their
health and safety plan. Failure to do so will be sufficient
cause for Chevron or the city of Tracy to suspend work at the
site until provisions are met .
All excavations will be monitored for hydrocarbon vapors with
Drager tubes or similar device to detect hydrocarbon vapors and
identify conditions that require respiratory equipment. Based on
the site assessment by Dames and Moore and our excavation work
under the previous Work Plan, we do not expect to encounter con-
centrations of hydrocarbon vapors above 200 ppm. If high concen-
trations of hydrocarbons are detected, then adequate respiratory
protection will be required as detailed in Appendix B.
Proper clothing will be required for all on-site personnel to
prevent transfer of oily material off-site. Proper clothing
includes coveralls, gloves, boots, safety glasses, etc. , when
appropriate. Proper care will be taken when leaving the site to
prevent the transfer of oil to clean areas .
Emergencies, Complaints, Concerns
The purpose of this section is to list the responsible parties
that should be contacted in the event of an emergency at the
site. Chevron ' s contacts should also be notified of any general
problems arising from our work (e.g. , excessive noise, odors,
unnecessary disruption of traffic, etc. ) .
