HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN <br /> 1. 0 Purpose <br /> The purpose of this plan is to assign responsibilities , establish <br /> personnel protection standards , and provide for contingencies <br /> that may arise while operations are being conducted at the site. <br /> 2. 0 Applicability <br /> The provisions of the plan are mandatory for all onsite Chevron <br /> personnel engaged in operations described in the Tracy work plan. <br /> Contractors shall provide a separate Health and Safety Plan for <br /> its own employees and shall complete all work in accordance with <br /> that plan. The contractor may choose to use Chevron' s Health and <br /> Safety Plan as a guide in developing its own plan. The contrac- <br /> tor shall hold Chevron harmless from, and indemnify it against , <br /> all liability in the case of injury. Chevron reserves the right <br /> to review and approve the contractor ' s plan at any time. <br /> Inadequate health and safety precautions on the part of the con- <br /> tractor or the belief that the contractor ' s personnel are or may <br /> be exposed to an immediate health hazard can be cause for Chevron <br /> to suspend the contractor ' s site work and ask the contractor ' s <br /> personnel to evacuate the work area. <br /> The contractor shall provide its own safety equipment in accor- <br /> dance with Health and Safety Plan requirements . The contractor <br /> will comply with all regulations including OSHA 29 CFR 1910 . 134 <br /> (Respiratory Protection) . <br /> 3 . 0 Responsibilities <br /> 3 . 1 Office Safety Coordinator <br /> The office safety coordinator (OSC) will generally not be <br /> involved directly in onsite activities . However , the OSC will <br /> provide the following functions in support of field activities : <br /> 1. Maintain an adequate inventory of equipment in good working <br /> order; <br /> 2. Maintain all necessary files and records . <br /> 3 . Be available for consultation by the Project Manager or Site <br /> Safety Officer . <br />
