An exclusion zone <br /> will be established approximately 20 feet around boring location work areas. No <br /> unauthorized person shall be allowed within this exclusion area. <br /> 4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on site. <br /> SUBSTANCES INVOLVED: CONCENTRATIONS: <br /> Gasoline 2,900 pg/I <br /> Diesel N/A <br /> Benzene 47 pg/I <br /> Toluene 4.7 pg/I <br /> Ethylbenzene 74 pg/I <br /> Xylenes 22 pg/I <br /> Methyl tertiary Butyl Ether N/A <br /> PCE/TCE N/A <br /> The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br /> Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water. <br /> Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild <br /> eye, nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous <br /> system. Symptoms of exposure includes headache, nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, and <br /> loss of coordination. Certain components of gasoline (BTE&X etc.) are known or <br /> suspected carcinogens. <br /> The additional potential hazards include: Slip-trip-fall hazards, noise, heavy equipment <br /> (i.e., drill rig) vibration hazards, traffic hazards, pedestrians <br /> 5.0.
