Suite 1115
Stockton, California 95219 Geoengineering Consultants Honolulu, Hawaii 96814
Tel: 209-472-1822 Tel:808-468-9993
www.kanegeotech.com www.kanegeotech.com
September 27, 2019
Anthony Lopes, SE, PE
Siegfried Engineering
3428 Brookside Road
Stockton, California 95219
Subject: Reclamation District 2074 Levee Monitoring Proposal
Inclinometer Installation, Readings, and Reports
San Joaquin County, California
Dear Mr. Lopes:
KANE GeoTech, Inc. (KANE GeoTech)is pleased to present this proposal to perform inclinometer
casing installation, reading, and reports for Siegfried Engineering for a levee located in Stockton,
California. This area in the Reclamation District 2074 has continuously show evidence of
movement. Cracks in the pavement on top of the levee have been present for a number of years
at this location. However, recently these cracks have deepened to approximately 3-ft.
It is our understanding that due to the increase in depth, Siegfried Engineering believes that
monitoring the movement in this area using inclinometers is now necessary.
Scope of Work
Toward this end, KANE GeoTech proposes the following Scope of Work:
1. Literature Review. KANE GeoTech will review available geotechnical information, reports, and
maps provided by Siegfried Engineering and others which are pertinent to the Project. This
includes, but is not limited to, soil (geotechnical) reports, surveys, past geological and
engineering studies. It is understood that Siegfried Engineering will make available any
applicable material in its possession.
2. Inclinometer Casing Installation. KANE GeoTech will obtain necessary permits from San
Joaquin County to complete the subsurface drilling. KANE GeoTech will retain a California
Licensed drillerto install inclinometer casing at two locations at the project site. The inclinometer
casings will extend to a depth of 40-ft from the crest of the levee. Final locations will be
determined in the field. KANE GeoTech personnel will log the subsurface conditions
encountered during drilling. No samples will be taken or testing performed.
3. Manual Data Readings and Monitoring Reports. KANE GeoTech personnel will complete
baseline readings for the two installed inclinometer casings as soon as possible following
installation. KANE GeoTech will take four additional readings during the winter and spring to
monitor the affect of the rain.
