(AGE) for the above referenced site. Four
corrections should be made to the report content. In the section that discusses
the "SVE Pilot Test Results" it states that "the radius of influence is 20 feet for
well VW1A and approximately 25 feet for well VW1A°, one of these distances
should be for VW1 B. In the "Summary and Conclusions" it states the MTBE
detected in one of the three water samples collected "does not exceed the
maximum contaminant level for MTBE in drinking water", 120 parts per billion of
MTBE exceeds both the primary and secondary maximum contaminant level for
drinking water. Table 3 shows Influent 1405 for Xylene to be x.25 and the lab
data sheet shows .29 ug/L. Table 6 should show groundwater results from MW1,
that the well was destroyed September 27, 2002, and groundwater results for
MW1 R on October 6, 2003.
The report recommends continued ground water monitoring, implementation of
the June 10, 2002, "Interim Soil Remediation Work Plan except for design
changes, and installation of an additional ground water monitoring well northeast
of the site if MTBE continues to be detected in the water. EHD previously
directed quarterly ground water monitoring be performed. EHD approves of the
implementation of interim remediation using the vapor extraction wells. MW1R
should not be included in the vapor extraction network of wells until the impact to
ground water and ground water flow direction is confirmed. The results of ground
water samples from MWIR will determine if further definition in the soil and
ground water north and east of the site is required.
In a letter dated October 25, 2001, from Baumbach & Piazza, elevation surveys
were provided to EHD for monitoring wells MW1, MW2 and MW3. These "z"
coordinates have been placed on the State Water Resources Control Board
Geotracker web site. Since MW 1 was destroyed and replaced, MW1 R must be
