(AGE)for the above
i
referenced site.
The "Replacement of Well MW-1" proposes pressure grouting of MW as the
method of destruction for this well. The well is located in an area of known
contamination so it must be overdrilled (removal of well casing, filter pack and
annular seal) and the bore hole filled with grout. The location of the replacement
well was not shown on a map.
This site has been approved for use as an unmanned card-lock facility only. The
well and septic tank at the site must be destroyed under permit and inspection by
EHD. Unless a well log can be provided that shows the construction of the on
site drinking water well, the casing will have to be perforated and filled with
approved grout from the bottom up.k If explosives will be used to perforate the
casing, the well should be destroyed before the new tanks are installed.
The "Additional Site Assessment and Soil Vapor Extraction Feasibility Work Plan"
proposes installation of six vapor extraction wells (three shallow, three deep). It
proposes installing a shallow and a deep vapor well in the former tank area
where the new tank system will be installed so this location is no longer valid.
Provide a new location for these wells or move:the four remaining wells closer to
the former tank location. The work plan also proposes drilling two soil boring to
define the extent of the soil contamination laterally to 60 feet below surface grade
(bsg). Soil contamination has been documented to 70 feet bsg, so the two
proposed soil borings should be drilled to 80 feet bsg to provide lateral definition.
High levels of soil contamination exist between 35 and 40 feet bsg so the vapor
well screen interval in the shallow wells should -be increased to remediate this
interval. Soil contamination exists at 10 feet bsg so collection of soil samples for
