07 lune 2002 AGE-NC Project No. 99-0645 Page 3 of 9 3 1 PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVTTIES Upon EHD approval of this work plan, AGE will secure all relevant city and/or county pe=ts and prepare a health and safety plan in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance :{Manual for Hazardous Waste Site,4ctivities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). AGE will notify the EHD a minimum of 48 hours prior to commencement of any work. Prior to mobilization, the area of excavation will be clearly marked and an utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert. 3 2. INSTALLATION OF REMEDIATION WELLS Based on soil and ground water data collected during the ongoing investigation of petroleum- hydrocarbon impact, AGE proposes installation of SVE wells in the following areas: • near the location of soil boring B5; • near the location of soil boring B4; • near the location of soil boring MW-3; • near the location of soil boring B6; • near the location of soil boring MW-1; • and at the south end of the UST excavation az-ea. Proposed SVE well locations are illustrated in Figure 2. monitoring well installation procedures are described in Section 4.2. 3.3. INSTALLATION OF SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION SYSTEM Two-inch diameter, schedule 40 PVC piping will be installed at approximately one foot bsg and routed from the SVE well heads to a vapor extraction system(VES). The locations of the proposed SVE piping network and VES are illustrated in Figure 4; SVE system design and installation procedures are described in Section 4.3. A 10-by l 5-foot chain-link gated enclosure will be located in a northwest section of the site to secure the vapor extraction unit and associated equipment; the proposed location of the gated enclosure is illustrated in Figure 4. .Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
