Soil sample
descriptions and OVN1 readings will be recorded on a log for each boring.
Following, sample collection, each preserved sample sleeve will be labeled with the horino, location.
depth. time. date and samplers initials. Appropriately sealed and labeled samples will be placed in
a chilled container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody procedure to a DI IS-certified
laboratory.
C'Uttings generated during drillim, will be placed in DOW-approved »-Mallon drums. A proposed monitoring well construction diagram is depicted in Figure
Atter installing the well casing in each pilot boring. a filter pack material consisting ol'pre-washed
92/12 or#3 Lonestar sand will be added through the autgcl's over the screen interval to approximately
two feet above the screened interval. Following placement ofthe filter pack, the well will be surged
to assist in settling the filter pack. Additional sand will be added it settling" occurs.
A nominal hyo-fbot bentonite sea] (pell plug non-coded bentonite pellets) will be placed above the
filter pack to minimize the potential lar grout penetration into the screened section of the well. The
bentonite seal will be formed by pouring bentonite pellets into the annulus and allowing them to
settle on the filter pack. The hentonite pellets will be allowed to hydrate for a minimum oFone-halt
hoar prior to grouting.
The remaining annular space will be filled within one foot ofthe ground surface with a celllent grout.
'file grout mixture will consist ofType IIII portland neat cement and not more than 6 gallons of nater
per 94-pound sack of cement. The grout vJ11 he placed by pumping through tremmic pipe. A
grouting inspection will be scheduled with PHS-EHD personnel.
Following completion ofthe monitoring wells, well elevations and locations will he surve\ed b%
ACiI: personnel. relative to monitoring well MW-1 or a San .loaquin County elevation benchmark.
Advancedfocail:ucirroriIll enlal, lug.
