.W
0 November 7000
AGF-N(' Project No. 99-0645
=1.3. WELL DEVELOPMENT/SAMPLING
Development of the proposed wells will consist of a combination of hailing with a stainless steel
bailer to remove the major portion of fine-grained sediment from inside the well, surging to flush
out or draw in sediment from the filter pack and additional ground water evacuation (purging) with
a subrnel-sible pump to finish the removal of'lint-grained sediment. Developmental purtJing activities
will be continued until field parameter(pll. electrical conductivity, and temperature) reading's have
stabilised and pul-ged water is visually sediment-free.
4.4. GRO['NDWATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES
GroundWater sample collection will be performed in accordance with pertinent applicable sampling
protocols, details ofwdhich are presented below.
4.4.1. Static Water Level Measurements
Before sampling and during quarterly oround water monitoring. static water level and free-product
thickness \\ill be measured usin(21 an electric oil/water level indicator. Water level data will be
recorded to the nearest 0.O1 foot from a retcrence point marked ofthe top of the PVC well casing.
Before and alter each use. the electric oil/water level indicator will he washed in an Alconox solution
and rinsed xvith water.
,4,2, Well Evacuation
Subsequent to measurement ofdepth to water and prior to sampling, the well will be purged using
a submersible pump to ensure that the ground eater sample is representative of the Iormation, rather
than eater standing in the well casing. 1'he well swill be purged trntil: 1 ) a minirlum of thr-CC casing
volumes is removed from the well; and/or 2) the field-measured ground water parameters pl1.
temperatr_Ire and electrical conductivity have stabilized. However, if a well is purged dry prior to
evacuating three casing volumes, a ground water sample will be collected following 80 percent
I'CCOV ry of ground water level within the well or within 8-11ours of well evacuation.
Purge water, tree-product. and decontamirlatiori \atcr generated during the ground eater sampi IM,
activitics ,Fill be contained in DOT-approved drums which , ill he appropriately labeled for storage.
Drums containing puree vkater will he stored on-site pending appropriate removal and disposal.
Idrand-edGeq)EIniruninenta1, Inc.
