1.0 Introduction <br /> This work plan has been prepared by IT Corporation (IT) to present the scope of work for soil <br /> and groundwater investigation along State Route 120 (SR 120) in San Joaquin County, California <br /> (Figure 1). The investigation as described in this work plan will be performed at the intersection <br /> of SR 120 and Austin Road between PM 6.7 and PM 7.0. Work will be conducted on behalf of <br /> the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and in general accordance with Task <br /> Order No. 10-OA750K-5U, EA No. 10-OA750K (Caltrans, 2000), Caltrans Contract 43A0012. <br /> Caltrans is planning to improve the portion of SR 120 within the aforementioned project limits. <br /> Improvement of SR 120 will consist of the construction of additional lanes and traffic control <br /> lights at the intersection. Retail gasoline stations may have been present on one or more of the <br /> corners of the intersection. The project is anticipated to disturb the soil upon the existing <br /> shoulders. All work will be conducted within Caltrans right-of-way. <br /> 2.0 Project History <br /> IT is not aware of any previous site investigative work in the area. <br /> 3.0 Objective <br /> The objectives of this investigation are to evaluate the presence and concentration of lead in <br /> shallow soil and petroleum hydrocarbons within groundwater in the work area prior to the <br /> implementation of improvement activities proposed by Caltrans. <br /> 4.0 Scope of Work <br /> To achieve the project objective, the following scope of work will be conducted: <br /> 1.
