07 March 2002 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 99-0645 <br /> Page 4 of 9 <br /> bearing units for monitoring well screen placement Installation of the wells was performed using <br /> a truck-mounted CME 75-HT drill rig equipped with 8-inch continuous flight hollow-stem augers <br /> The drill ng and two-man crew were supplied by Woodward Drilling of Rio Vista, California <br /> Samples were collected from borings at five-foot intervals using a California-modified split spoon <br />' sampler loaded with three clean, 2 X 6-inch brass sleeves A 140-pound hammer was used to <br /> advance the sampler 18 inches, the number of blows required to advance the sampler over each 6- <br /> inch increment was recorded on the boring logs <br /> All sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed twice with water prior to <br /> each sampling run <br /> Both ends of the soil sleeve of each sample collected for laboratory analysis were covered with <br /> Teflon sheets, capped and sealed with tape The selected samples were stored in a chilled container <br /> and transported under chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a California <br /> Department ofHealth Services(DHS)-certified analytical laboratory located in Pacheco,California <br />' Selected samples were analyzed for <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel(TPH-g and TPH-d)by EPA <br /> lie Method 8015 Modified, <br /> • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl-tert-butyl ether <br /> (MTBE)by EPA Method 8020 and <br /> • Oxygenated fuel additives-MTBE,tertiary butyl alcohol(TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), <br /> ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE)and tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME)in accordance with <br /> EPA methods 8260 Modified <br /> 1 The results of the soil sample laboratory analysis are presented in Section 4 2 <br /> During drilling, auger returns were monitored for the presence of organic vapor using an organic <br />' vapor analyzer (OVA) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo Environmental <br /> 580A, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene) Auger returns were placed on plastic and stored on-site <br /> pending laboratory analysis and disposal at a licenced facility <br /> 33 SOIL LOGGING <br /> After sample preservation, soil was extruded from the remaining sleeves and screened utilizing an <br /> OVM The soil was also described in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System Soil <br /> ' boring logs exhibiting soil profiles are depicted in Appendix A <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
