FILE NO. 20-3978-01.WR6 K L E I N F E L D E R <br /> FEBRUARY 24, 1997 <br /> 6 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> Kleinfelder conducted this limited soil assessment of the railroad spur areas of the Spreckels site <br /> to evaluate the presence of selected contaminants. A total of thirty-two (32) soil samples were <br /> collected from locations 6-1 through 6-27 (see Plate 3, Boring Location Map) for potential <br /> chemical analysis. Twenty-eight (28) of the samples obtained were analyzed for selected <br /> constituents. <br /> 6.1 GENERAL CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> Based on the results of the subsurface assessment, Kleinfelder has the following general <br /> recommendation: <br /> 1. A copy of this report should be submitted to the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services Department Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) and the State of <br /> California Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) for their consideration. <br /> This report and the conclusions and recommendations presented are subjected to the <br /> "Limitations" presented in Chapter 7 of this report. <br /> 6.2 SOIL ASSESSMENT <br /> 6.2.1 Ranges of Concentrations Detected <br /> In general, concentrations of the analytes in the 32 samples tested ranged as follows. <br /> "ND"indicates none detected at the detection limit noted. <br /> • TTLC CAM 17 Metals (ND, except for the following) <br /> • Arsenic [ND (Q.5 mg/kg)to 100 mg/kg] <br /> • Barium [28 mg/kg to 120 mg/kg] <br /> • Cadmium [ND(<0.25 mg/kg)to 1.4 mg/kg] <br /> • Chromium [3.1 mg/kg to 16 mg/kg] <br /> • Cobalt [ND(<2.0 mg/kg)to 6.0 mg/kg] <br /> • Copper [6.4 mg/kg to 340 mg/kg] <br /> • Lead [ND (<2.5 mg/kg)to 88 mg/kg] <br /> • Mercury [ND(<0.020 mg/kg)to 1.4 mg/kg] <br /> • Molybdenum [ND (<1.0 mg/kg)to 4.4 mg/kg] <br /> • Nickel [4.0 mg/kg to 47 mg/kg] <br /> • Vanadium [9.8 mg/kg to 34 mg/kg] <br /> 20-3978-OI.WR61107RE074.dm Page 12 of 17 01997,Kleinfelder,Inc. <br />
