KLEINFELDER
RESULTS
The results of the chemical analyses performed are summarized on the following table:
LABORATORY SOIL SAMPLE NUMBER,ID AND DEPTH
REPORTING #16670 #16669 #16668
ANALYTE LIMIT 4-47A-3' 4-47A-4' 4-47B-5'
benzene 0.0050 mg/kg ND ND ND
toluene 0.0050 mg/kg ND ND ND
ethylbenzene 0.0050 mg/kg ND ND ND
total xylenes 0.0050 mg/kg ND ND ND
ND =None detected at laboratory reporting limit.
mg/kg =milligrams per kilogram (parts per million)
Copies of the laboratory data sheets and chain of custody records are attached.
FINDINGS
Based on the former field and laboratory investigations as well as proposed plans for the property
and the results of both sampling events, Kleinfelder has the following findings and
recommendations:
1. The xylene detected in the sample obtained from a depth of 3 feet in Boring 4-47 was
apparently the result of field and/or laboratory cross contamination due to the lack of any
detectible xylene in the 3 foot, 4 foot and 5 foot samples obtained from Boring 4-47A.
Furthermore, the concentration of 260 µg/kg (0.260 mg/kg, parts per million) was barely
detectable in the analysis conducted. Even if the 0.260 ppm xylenes were actually present, it
would not represent a threat to groundwater resources, the environment, or human health of this
approved industrial redevelopment site.
2. Based on the above findings and conclusions, Kleinfelder does not recommend any further
investigation or clean-up of the former waste water ponds.
3. A copy of this letter report should be submitted to the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services Department Environmental Health (PHS/EHD) and the State of California Regional
Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) to support regulatory closure for the former 4-47
sample area.
20-3978-OI.W35/20171051 Page No.3 of 5
Copyright 1997, KIcinI'elder.
