 r
File No. 20-3978-01.W14KLEINFELDER
January 6, 1997
REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of the soil sampling and our receipt and review of the analytical results, a
report will be prepared for client review. The report will include:
• A description of field activities, observations, and protocols;
• Lithologic logs and, if appropriate, interpreted geologic cross sections;
• Tabularized results of soil sample analysis with copies of certified analytical
laboratory results with chain-of-custody documentation;
• Conclusions and recommendations.
All information gathered during the study by Kleinfelder is considered confidential and will be
released only upon written authorization from the client or as required by law. California law
requires a person to inform the state if a situation is encountered that can be considered an
immediate endangerment to the public's health or welfare and/or to the environment.
CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND ASSUMPTIONS
> Atherton Kirk Development will assist Kleinfelder in obtaining access to the site and
owner authorization for the proposed sampling.
> Adequate work space and access will be provided. Kleinfelder will attempt to collect
soil samples at the proposed locations. The samples will be collected using a hand
auger and slide hammer and/or a truck mounted drilling rig. If the unanticipated
conditions are encountered (such as hardpan) alternative sampling methods may be
recommended.
> Soil and water generated during the sampling will be the responsibility of the client.
Soil cuttings and steam cleaning water will be left on site. Sampling and analysis of the
contained soil and water may be necessary prior to disposal. Disposal or remediation
options for the soil and water can be assessed once analytical results have been received.
Kleinfelder is prepared to assist the client and to remediate or dispose of stockpiled soil
and water, if requested.
> This proposal is based on the presumption that Atherton Kirk Development will clearly
mark utilities and will provide any and all available survey maps or other data to
determine the location of tanks, existing structures, underground utilities and services.
The client should be aware that penetrating the site's surface is inherently risky. It is
impossible to determine with certainty the precise location of all structures which may
be buried in the ground. Kleinfelder's fee is not adequate to compensate for both the
performance of the services and the assumption of risk of damage to such structures.
Disruption of utilities or damage to underground structures and repair will be the
20-3978-o1.W141207PE01I Page 4 of January 6, 1997
Copyright 1997, Klein/elder, Inc.
