K
24 July 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 00-0736
Page 3 of 8
The Modesto,Riverbank,Turlock Lake Formations and overlying recent alluvium are the principal
source of domestic ground water in the 13,500 square-mile San Joaquin Valley Ground Water Basin
(Basin 5-22). This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River. The nearest surface water
feature in the vicinity of the property is the Calaveras River,located approximately 2,500 feet north
of the property.
2.5. REGIONAL GROUND WATER DEPTH AND GRADIENT
The estimated depth to ground water at the site is approximately 60 feet below surface grade(bsg)
based on information from Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater Fall 1998, published by the San
Joaquin County Flood Control District and Water Conservation District(SJCFCD).Based on review
of a regional ground water elevation map also published by the SJCFCD,the prevailing ground water
flow direction at the site is generally toward the northeast, although flow directions may be both
locally and seasonably variable.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
Based on the former presence of a UST on the property and the possible presence of a shallow
disposal well,AGE is recommending additional investigation to assess for a previously undiscovered
release has occurred on the site. AGE proposes to:
• Excavate the area of the illegal disposal of waste to determine if a shallow disposal well is
present;
• Advance one probe boring in the waste disposal area, if the well is encountered;
• Advance one probe boring near the former UST location;
• Collect soil samples and, if encountered, collection of in-situ grab ground water samples;
and
• Preparation of a report.
The investigation will consist of the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Excavation;
• Probe boring advancement;
Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
