ENGINEERING GEOLOGY <br /> C I V I L t N G I N t t R I N G <br /> GROUNDWATER HYDROLOGY <br /> April 26,2013 010107.05 <br /> Mr. Brendan Kenny <br /> California Regional Water Quality Control Board <br /> Central Valley Region <br /> 11020 Sun Center Drive, Suite 200 <br /> Rancho Cordova, CA 95670-6114 <br /> SUBJECT: GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL DESTRUCTION PLAN, DIAMOND PET <br /> FOOD PROCESSORS OF RIPON, LLC AND RIPON COGENERATION, LLC, <br /> WDR ORDER No. R5-2012-0105 <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> This letter represents the Groundwater Monitoring Well Destruction Plan(Work Plan) <br /> required to be submitted by Diamond Pet Food Processors of Ripon, LLC (Diamond) and <br /> Ripon Cogeneration, LLC (Cogen; Figure 1). The Work Plan is required by Waste <br /> Discharge Requirements (WDR) Order No. R5-2012-0105, Provision H.Lb., as follows: <br /> H.1.b. By 1 May 2013, the Discharger shall submit a Groundwater Monitoring Well <br /> Destruction Plan for the wells that are not used for the Diamond and Nestle sites. The <br /> workplan shall describe the proposed abandonment procedures, which shall comply <br /> with the California Well Standards Bulletin 74-90 (June 1991); State of California <br /> Bulletin 94-81 (December 1981); and any more stringent standards adopted by the <br /> state or county pursuant to Water Code section 13801. At a minimum, the workplan <br /> shall specifically address the monitoring wells listed in Attachment D. For each well <br /> that will not be destroyed,provide an explanation of the need to maintain the well for <br /> monitoring purpose. <br /> Table 1 <br /> List of Groundwater Monitoring Wells to be Considered for Potential Destruction <br /> (from WDR) <br /> Zone Wells <br /> First Zone OB-3, OB-6, OB-10.
