ENGEOTECHNICAL
GEO
ENVIRONMENTAL
WATER RESOURCES
I N C O R P O R A T E D CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
Project No.
5044.5.001.01
July 5, 2006
Ms. Margaret Lagorio
Environmental Health Department, San Joaquin County
304 East Weber Avenue
Stockton, CA 95202-2708
Subject: Monitoring Well Abandonment
301 W. Stewart Road
APN 213-310-01O° 3°Z
Lathrop, California
WORK PLAN FOR MONITORING WELL ABANBANDONMENT
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
As requested by our client, River Islands, ENGEO Incorporated has prepared this work plan for a
monitoring well abandonment at the subject property, located in Lathrop, California(Figure 1). We
present this work plan to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department and request
approval to perform the services described below.
The purpose of our services is to abandon an existing onsite well located in the eastern portion of
the River Islands project, west of the toe of the San Joaquin River levee. Grading in the area of the
monitoring well is planned for later this year.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The well to be abandoned is located approximately 2200 feet northeast the intersection of
Stewart Road and Cohen Road near the toe of the San Joaquin River levee. The subject
monitoring well is located in Assessor's Parcel Number APN 213-310-01. Based on information
provided to us by the Environmental Health Department of San Joaquin County, the well was
installed under permit in 1998. The well casing is 1-inch diameter PVC and the screen interval is
unknown. A site visit and reconnaissance found that the well bottom is set at approximately 25
feet below the existing ground surface (bgs). The water level at the time of our exploration was
measured at approximately 5 feet bgs. The top of the well is protected by a metal standpipe and
is encased in concrete at the ground surface.
It is our understanding that groundwater in the immediate vicinity of the site has no known
contamination.
2880 North Tracy Boulevard•Suite 3•Tracy,CA 95376•(209)835-0610•Fax(209)835-0675
w .engeo.com
