• 0,
Environmental Health Department, San Joaquin County 5044.5.001.01
Monitoring Well Abandonment July 5, 2006
WORK PLAN FOR MONITORING WELL ABANDONMENT Page 2
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Our proposed scope includes drilling out the existing well and grouting the subsequent borehole.
We will coordinate with a licensed drilling contractor to over-bore the well to a depth of
approximately 25 feet bgs, or the bottom of the previous boring, whichever is deeper. Drilling
will be accomplished using a truck-mounted hollow stem auger drill rig equipped with 8-inch
diameter augers in order to remove the annular seal around the well. Given that the subsurface
material is not suspected to be contaminated, drilling cuttings will be discharged on the ground
surface near the well.
Once the well has been adequately removed the borehole will be grouted with neat cement by
tremie method to 5 feet bgs. Bentonite pellets will be placed in the remaining five feet to the
ground surface. Bentonite pellets will be adequately hydrated.
SCHEDULE
The proposed well destruction is tentatively scheduled to be conducted on July 17, 2006, pending
approval of this work plan.
If you have any questions on any portion of this work plan, please call and we will be glad to
discuss them with you.
Very truly yours,
ENGEO INCORPORATED Reviewed by:
1
Richard Gand fo Duncan Hickmott, C.E.G.
