TERRA GENESIS
A California Corporation
1014 Sixteenth Street • Post Office Box 3047 • Modesto, Califo ia'95353
Telephone (209) 521-6260 • Telecopier (209) 521-59 ►l
EPA Identification Number - CAD982040198 xNg
\-V,
March 16, 1988
Ms. Laurie Cotulla, R.S.
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin County Local Health District
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
SUBJECT: CLEANUP OF CONTAMINATED SOIL IN SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA.
Dear Laurie:
On March 10, 1988, the San Joaquin County Planning Commission issued a
Use Permit to Terra Genesis, Inc. allowing, under certain conditions,
the decontamination of certain sole-source soils containing diesel , unused
motor oil and unleaded gasoline. This initial period (March-August),
will be under a research and development variance from the Division of
Alternative Technology, Department of Health Services. Terra Genesis
expects to receive that variance in the very near future.
At the Planning Commission meeting, Mr. James Miller of your District
raised the question, "could San Joaquin County contaminated soil receive
a priority status with the Terra Genesis decontamination site at our Palm
Avenue site?" I stated that Terra Genesis would be very pleased to work
with San Joaquin County's hydrocarbon waste. Jim stated that it would
be a good procedure to contact you in this regard. Due to the conditions
of the Use Permit, it will be necessary to locate approximately 1,800
to 2,000 cubic yards of soil with fairly high concentrations of diesel
fuel contamination (6,000 to 20,000 mg/kg range).
I will call you in a few days to get your input regarding the above.
Terra Genesis, Inc. is looking forward to working in San Joaquin County
and will welcome your comments regarding our future work.
Sincerely,
r' .A. Molden auer P.E.
Vice President of Engineering
cc: James Miller, San Joaquin County Local Health District.
Providing services in transportation, disposal and treatment of hazardous waste materials.
