hF KLEINfELDER
k. The process water was plumbed to the sanitary sewer which
chromium process tartment area towards Stanislaus Street.
ran west from the trea
1.2, DATA COLLECTION AND EVALUATION DTSC and Kleinfelder the following
Based on correspondence between Delta Plating,
services are proposed:
Endangerment Assessment Workplan which addresses
Prepare a Preli AOC (Plating Room and Treatment Area) and COPC noted by
the two primary Chromium VI, nickel, copper,
DTSC and Kleinfelder (acids/bases, chromium Ill.
cyanide and aluminum); an addendum to
Review of DTSC comments on this draft workplan and prepare
• the workplan as necessary;
ce samples in the two AOC at the site;
Collect surface and subsurfa
for the COPC and evaluate data;
Perform laboratory analyses
Prepare a human health and ecological risk screening;
• Prepare a PEA report; and
• Attend meetings.
This sampling and analysis program will be conducted to evaluate the potential
presence of said heavy metals, acids and bases (pH) in shallow and subsurface soil
beneath the site in the two noted AOC. Background soil samples will be collected along
the edges of the property in areas of same soil type at the greatest practical distance
from the two AOC. The background soil sampling data will be used for comparison with
metals and pH values detected from soil samples collected in the two AOC at the site.
The scope of work for field collection and laboratory analyses is described in detail in
the Field Sampling and Analysis Plan (FSP) presented in Chapter 6 of this report.
1.3. HUMAN HEALTH AND ECOLOGICAL SCREENING EVALUATION
The presence of heavy metal contaminants is suspected based on the history of the
site and has been referenced by DTSC in regards to a citation for violation of illegal
disposal of plating bath solution onto the ground surface by the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJC/EHD). At this time, the specific spill area is
unknown and assumed to be in the Plating Room. If concentrations are reported above
the laboratory method detection limits, (or above background for metals) a human
health and ecological screening evaluation will be performed.
