I KLEINFELDER
eneo,a.oei•.nienrsowra:.
from each of the probes advanced within the former containment area (< 5 feet bgs)
and at 5 to 10 foot intervals to the proposed maximum depth of approximately 25 feet
bgs. Samples from peripheral probes will be collected at slightly deeper depths initially
and then at 5 to 10 foot intervals. Sampling depths may vary depending upon field
observations indicating evidence of sulfuric acid impacted soils. However, it is
estimated three soil samples from each boring will be sufficient for the purposes of the
assessment.
After collection, the soil samples will be labeled, logged on a chain-of-custody form, and
immediately stored in an iced cooler. The samples will be transported under chain-of-
custody control to Kleinfelder's office and then transported by courier in a chilled
container to a State Certified Laboratory to perform the requested analyses.
Kleinfelder proposes submittal of 24 soil samples during the pushprobe investigation for
the following analyses:
• pH by EPA Method 9040/9045
• Sulfate by EPA Method 300.0
• Sulfur by EPA/Standard Methods
The samples will be submitted on a standard 10 to 15 business day turn around time.
Task 3 — Reporting
Upon completion of the field activities and receipt of the analytical results, a draft report of
findings will be prepared for client and agency review. The report will include:
• A description of the field activities, observations, and protocols;
• Tabulated results of soil samples with copies of certified analytical results;
• A graphical representation of sample locations;
• Description and documentation of QA/QC procedures employed for field and
laboratory work; and
• Kleinfelder's conclusions and recommendations based on the data obtained
during sampling activities.
As set forth above, all information gathered during the study by Kleinfelder is
considered confidential and will be released only upon written authorization from the
client or as required by law. California law requires a person to inform the state if a
situation is encountered that can be considered an immediate endangerment to the
public's health or welfare and/or to the environment.
