20 October 2014
AGE Project No. 09-1692
Page 2 of 4
observations indicate diesel-impacted soil is still present in the samples collected from
the borings advanced for lateral definition, then one contingency boring will be
advanced south beyond the initial boring locations in an attempt to complete the lateral
definition.
The scope of work will include the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Advancement of soil borings for collection of soil samples;
• Sample analysis;
• Soil boring abandonment; and
• Report preparation.
2.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK PREPARATIONS
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD). In addition, a site specific health and
safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization, each soil boring will be
clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert. The
SJCEHD will be contacted at least 48 hours prior to conducting any field work.
2.2. SOIL PROBE BORING AND SAMPLING
Initially, AGE proposes to advance a total of three (3) soil probe borings utilizing direct
push drilling technology to define the lateral extent of adsorbed petroleum hydrocarbon
impact at the site; and to verify analytical data from soil samples collected from
Excavation Area B. Proposed soil boring locations are depicted in Figure 2. A
description of proposed soil boring locations and sampling are provided below:
• One soil boring will be advanced in the location of soil sample EXC.B-S2; the soil
boring will be advanced to approximately 10 feet bsg for collection of soil
samples to confirm the high concentrations detected at four feet bsg in soil
sample EXC.B-S2.
• One soil boring will be advanced approximately 15 feet south of the western
sidewall of Excavation Area B to approximately 10 feet bsg to define the lateral
extent of adsorbed petroleum hydrocarbon impact.
Advanced Geo Environmental Inc.
