20 October 2014
AGE Project No. 09-1692
• One soil boring will be advanced approximately 15 feet south of the eastern side
wall of Excavation Area B to approximately 10 feet bsg to define the lateral extent
of adsorbed petroleum hydrocarbon impact.
Additionally, if field observations indicate diesel-impacted soil is still present in the
samples collected from the borings advanced south of Excavation Area B, then one
contingency boring will be advanced approximately 15-20 feet south of the initial boring
locations in an attempt to complete the lateral definition.
Discrete soil samples will be collected from each boring at two- or three-foot intervals.
However, field personnel may adjust the frequency and method of sampling in
consultation with an AGE Professional Geologist.
2.3. LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a California Department of Public Health
(CDPH)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) in accordance with EPA
Method 82608.
Laboratory reports for soil sample and water analyses, testing methods, laboratory
quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain-of-custody
documentation will be presented in a report with the findings and recommendations.
Electronic deliverable format (EDF) files of the laboratory analytical results will be
submitted to the State of California GeoTracker database.
3.0. PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of
a California Professional Geologist. Procedures for advancing soil probe borings,
collection and analysis of soil samples, boring abandonment, equipment
decontamination and sample handling are presented below.
3.1. SOIL PROBE BORING ADVANCEMENT
Proposed soil borings will be advanced using a truck mounted AMS Powerprobe 9600
or Geoprobe 5400 direct-push probing unit equipped with 1.25-inch probing rods. The
Powerprobe or other probe advances soil probe borings using a hydraulic hammer to
drive soil sampling tools to specified depths.
Advanced GeoLnvironmental Inc.
