San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department 5044.411.102
Monitor Well Destruction(MWR-1 and MWR-2) November 5,2014
WORK PLAN FOR WELL ABANDONMENT Page 2
San Joaquin County records indicate that groundwater in the immediate vicinity of the site has
no known contamination.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The well destruction will include completely redrilling the wells to remove existing well materials
and tremie backfilling the hole with neat cement under the observation of a San Joaquin County
Environmental Health representative.
We will coordinate with a licensed drilling contractor to over-drill the wells to a depth of
approximately 20 feet bgs, or the bottom of the previous borings, whichever is deeper. Drilling
will be accomplished using a truck-mounted hollow stem auger drill rig equipped with
8-inch-diameter augers in order to remove the annular seal around each well. Given that the
subsurface material is not suspected to be contaminated, drilling cuttings will be discharged on
the ground surface near each of the wells.
Once the wells have been adequately removed, the boreholes will be grouted with neat cement
by the tremie method to approximately 5 feet bgs. Hydrated bentonite pellets will be placed in
the remaining five feet to the ground surface.
SCHEDULE
We plan to complete the well destruction by November 18, 2014 pending approval of this work
plan and favorable weather. It is our understanding that because the parcels for MWR-1 and
MWR-2 are owned by the same entity they may be covered under the same permit.
If you have any questions on any portion of this work plan, please call and we will be glad to
discuss them with you.
Sincerely,
DROF
vF FLgHFoJ
ENGEO Incorporated No. HG 460
CERTIFIED
* HYDROGEOLOGIST
S Exp.7/31/2015 Q
Matthew E.
