(ATC). The
purpose for the review and discussions was to assist the site characterization and
remediation program for your site, and were the result of telephone proposals by Ms.
Sawyer to advance your site investigation. Specifically, Ms. Sawyer still favors installation
of the clustered wells and deep well nearly as originally proposed but was not approved
by the SJC/EHD (SJC/EHD letter dated 20 August 2007).
In the discussions with Ms. Sawyer, it was agreed that ATC would propose to:
• Install an additional cone penetration test (CPT) boring northwest of MW3 and
another CPT west of MW4 to obtain deeper hydrogeological profiles in those areas
and to collect grab groundwater samples from permeable zones of interest;
• Install shallow groundwater monitoring wells screened between 70 and 90 feet
below surface grade (bsg), and across the water table northwest of MW3 and west
of MW4;
• Install three deeper monitoring wells screened approximately from 95 to 100 feet
bsg;
• Install the deep well screened approximately 124 to 129 feet bsg to verify vertical
extent of impacted groundwater; and
• Install the three previously approved shallow groundwater monitoring wells screen
approximately 70 to 90 feet bsg in the field east of the paved area on the site.
Submit a work plan addendum for the above proposals; a technical justification for each
specific item should be included in the addendum. If alternative methods can be employed
to achieve the site characterization goals for which the items above were proposed, they
can be substituted in the work plan addendum, but a technical justification must be
included for each proposed change.
