1 -
Raymond Greer,Albert and'Ada Veldstra
19364 Stemegul Road, Escalon
During the SJC/EHD's review of the site data, it was noted that there is a permeable zone
that includes the 95 to 100 feet bsg screen interval of monitoring well MW6 that appears
to have lateral continuity across your site (see the existing CPT logs). If so, this zone,
which has the highest 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) concentrations may be a significant
lateral migration pathway. For this reason, the SJC/EHD recommends selecting the final
locations for the proposed well in this interval after the CPT data has been analyzed.
The SJC/EHD is concerned that the domestic well on the adjacent property immediately
north of your site is not being sampled for laboratory analysis for the chemicals of concern
related to the unauthorized release on your site. The SJC/EHD is not aware of the
construction details for the domestic well. It is imperative that this well be included in the
routine quarterly sampling program. If your consultant is having difficulty obtaining access
or consent to sample the well, document this in the quarterly reports along with the
measures taken by your consultant to comply with this directive.
The SJC/EHD is aware that the current property owner/resident has requested that the
noise generated by the remediation equipment be reduced or muffled. It is important that
the tranquility of the residence be protected, therefore you are directed to take such
feasible and appropriate actions as may be necessary to reduce the volume of noise to a
more acceptable level. Include potential measures in the work plan addendum and report
progress on this issue in future quarterly reports.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Nuel C.
