(ATC) and has the following comments.
The Report documents work conducted at this site in July 2009, when two soil borings (SB-1
and SB-2) and one groundwater monitoring well (MW-11) were installed. Soil samples were
collected from the borings and submitted for laboratory analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of
soil vapor extraction (SVE) remediation conducted at this site from September 2005 through
September 2008, and to perform an ozone infusion bench scale test.
Soil analytical results were reported as non-detect for all samples except for the 75-foot sample
from MW-11, which is near the groundwater interface. The results indicate the SVE system was
effective in remediating the petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in the vadose zone at this
site. In the Report ATC recommend permanent discontinuation of the SVE activities at the site
and removal of all SVE equipment. The EHD concurs with the recommendation.
Well MW-11 was installed to total depth 150 feet below surface grade (bsg) to investigate the
vertical extent of the groundwater contamination. Groundwater samples collected from this well
and submitted for laboratory analysis have been reported non-detect. These results indicate the
vertical extent of the groundwater contamination has been defined. ATC recommends adding
this well to the semi-annual groundwater monitoring and sampling schedule. Since two quarters
of data have already been acquired from this well, and the results from both were reported
non-detect, the EHD recommends biennial sampling of this well.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Sincerely,
Lori Duncan, REHS Nuel C.
