Field records
' documented the above information and other significant data, such as names of
on-site personnel, sampling methods, date and time of sampling, the number of
well volumes removed before sampling, preservatives added (if any), and any
rfiltration performed on samples. Table 4 and Appendix F provides a summary
of the field data collected on July 24 and 25, 2000 during the groundwater
' sampling event.
The samples were carefully poured from a Teflon bailer into clean glass vials
' with Teflon-luted screw caps and half gallon glass containers provided by the
laboratory Care was taken to ensure that no air space existed in the vials by
inverting to check for bubbles and re-sampling if necessary The groundwater
' samples were analyzed or extracted within 14 days according to their EPA
methods Water samples collected for analysis were analyzed by EPA method
5030/LLFT for total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline, EPA method 8021B
lie for BTX&E, and EPA method 8260B for oxygenates (MTBE, Ethanol, tertiary
Butanol, DIPE, ETBE, and TAME) Analyses were conducted by the State-
certified laboratory GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc , in Modesto, California.
The samples were refrigerated immediately for delivery to the laboratory and
under no circumstances were opened by anyone other than laboratory personnel.
Charm of Custody records were maintained at all times (Appendix Q.
4n August 10, 2000, WBF surveyed the well collar elevations of all wells on
site, both existing and new monitoring wells to ensure consistency in
measurements. Table 3 of this report provides the summary of the groundwater
elevations Appendix G provides the survey notes for flus event.
3.4 Soil Sampling
All soil sampling equipment was thoroughly steam-cleaned before and between
sampling to prevent cross contamination. Relatively undisturbed soil samples
were taken at intervals of not more than 5 feet in order to evaluate the
subsurface materials.
