Precision Industries, Inc obtained one soil sample from each UST excavation The sample from <br /> the 550-gallon UST excavation was obtained-from a depth of approximately 10 feet below <br /> ground surface (bgs) The sample from the 1,000-gallon UST excavation was obtained from <br /> approximately 12 feet bgs Analytical results for the sample from the 1,000-gallon UST <br /> indicated concentrations of 1,200 mg/Kg (ppm) Total Volatile Petroleum Hydrocarbons, 430 <br /> mg/Kg Benzene, 69 mg/Kg Toluene and 6 0 mg/Kg Total Lead The sample from beneath the <br /> 550-gallon UST had a concentration of 9 0 mg/Kg Total Lead Other analytes were not detected <br /> In March 1997, WHF, Inc advanced one soil boring to 80 feet bgs in the vicinity of the former <br /> USTs Soil samples and a groundwater sample from the boring, along with a water sample from <br /> the domestic well, were submitted for laboratory analysis of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as <br /> gasoline (TPHg), Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl Benzene and Total Xylene isomers (BTEX), and <br /> Methyl Tertiary-Butyl Ether(MTBE) <br /> Analytical results for the soil samples revealed TPHg concentrations of 5 7-1,400 mg/Kg, <br /> Benzene concentrations of 0 95-23 mg/Kg, Toluene concentrations of 40-200 mg/Kg, Ethyl <br /> Benzene concentrations of 9 2-53 mg/Kg, and total Xylene concentrations of 80-410 mg/Kg <br /> MTBE was no detected in the samples <br /> rAnalytical results for the groundwater sample showed 53,000 Icg/L (ppb) TPHg, 21,000 yg/L <br /> Benzene, 21,000 ug/L Toluene, 1,700 ug/L Ethyl Benzene, and 12 0,000 ,ug/L total Xylenes <br /> None of the analytes were detected in the domestic well water sample <br /> BSK conducted the investigation described herein during December 1998 through February <br /> 1999 <br /> 2.3 Hydrogeologic Conditions <br />' The subject site, located in the northeastern portion of the San Joaquin Valley, is underlain by <br /> Quaternary alluvial sediments of non-marine origins Soils encountered to depths of 100 feet bgs <br /> generally comprise interbedded silty sand and sandy silt <br /> The Site is located near the southern end of the Eastern San Joaquin County Groundwater Basin <br /> According to a Spring 1997 groundwater elevation map prepared by the San Joaquin County <br /> Flood Control and Water Conservation District, groundwater in the area generally flows to the <br />' northwest In the immediate vicinity of the Site, groundwater was encountered at approximately <br /> 80 feet bgs during the winter of 1998/1999 <br /> Interim Report-07400178-May 1999 2 <br />
