Secor proposes to complete down hole video logging of on-site
Ranch Market well (DW-1) and off-site domestic well (DW-2)by removing the pumps and running a
camera down to the total depth of each well.
DW-2 at 23565 South Santa Fe Road, was impacted with MtBE following a release from the former
underground storage tanks, and was subsequently shut off in January 2000. DW-1 currently supplies
water to Ranch Market and to the residence at 23565 South Santa Fe Road. Both San Joaquin County
and Board staff are concerned that DW-1 is threatened by MtBE at 350 micrograms per liter(µg/1) in
monitoring well MW-2, approximately 50 feet east of DW-1, and a septic tank leach field,
approximately 100 feet northeast of DW-1. If DW-1 is impacted with MtBE or bacteria, both residences
will lose their only potable water source. Therefore, completing the investigation and replacing DW-2 is
required. Because well construction details for DW-1 and DW-2 are not available, the down hole video
logs are required in both wells to determine the depth at which MtBE is entering DW-2, and for
preparing an adequate sanitary seal for a new water source well replacement for DW-2.
The Workplan is approved; however, video logging must be completed as soon as possible following
approval by the UST Cleanup Fund, and as soon as access agreements are completed with the necessary
property owner. Please take steps to secure the access agreements immediately.
Please contact Mr. Mike Infurna at San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division and me at least
two business days prior to any site work to schedule a field inspection appointment. If you have any
questions, please call me at (916) 255-3115.
Ma Hartzell\l
Associate Engineering Geologist
cc: Ms. Wennilyn Fua, UST Cleanup Fund, State Water Resources Control Board, Sacramento
Mr. Mike Infuma, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division, Stockton
Mr. Jaff Auchterlonie, Secor International Incorporated, Sacramento
California Environmental Protection Agency
¢d Recycled Paper
