PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
o
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY `
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer .. ;
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor• Stockton, CA 95202
209/468-3420 FILE GOP Y
DURHIM SALEH ALI
23569 S SANTA EE RD JUL 2 21998
RIVERBANK CA 95367
RE: Ranch Market Site Code: 2412
23569 S. Santa Fe Road
Riverbank, CA., 95367
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS-EHD) has reviewed the June 1998 "Workplan" as submitted by Arrowhead
Consulting on June 23, 1998 and has the following comments.
Since an elevated level of MTBE was detected in the groundwater at the former
underground storage tank (UST) location and none was detected in the soil,
PHS-EHD will require additional MTBE soil analyses to determine the source of
this contaminant. Monitoring wells proposed in this workplan are to have a soil
sample analyzed for MTBE by Method 8020. If MTBE is detected in any 8020
scan then that soil sample is to be analyzed for MTBE by EPA Method 8260 to
verify its presence.
In reviewing the data for this site, it has been noted that previously submitted soil
results have been recorded in multiple units of measurement. In order to avoid
confusion in the future, please report all soil results in "mg/kg" (ppm). Please
continue to report all groundwater results in "ug/1" (ppb).
With the above noted changes incorporated in the field work, the plan is
approved.
The boring permit application and the application $89 fee that was required to be
submitted with the workplan has not been received at PHS-EHD.
You are hereby directed to submit these required items along with an
updated site specific safety plan by August 7, 1998. The drilling and
installation of the monitoring wells is to completed by August 28, 1998.
The report of findings is to be submitted to PHS-EHD by October 2, 1998.
A Division of San Joaquin Counry Healrh Care Services
