Revised Work Plan For Soil and Groundwater Assessment 10
Ranch Market 23569 South Santa Fe Road Riverbank California April 25,2000
60 feet bgs. After allowing the cement to cure, the neat cement plug in the bottom of the steel
casing will be drilled out and the well deepened to a depth of 85 feet bgs using 8-inch-diameter
hollow-stem augers. The well will be completed using a 2-inch diameter polyvinyl chloride
(PVC)blank casing and 0.020-inch-slot well screen. The well screen will be installed from the
80 to 85 feet bgs. The annulus of the well will be sealed with 2-3 feet of bentonite on top of the
sand, and a portland cement/bentonite slurry to the surface. Refer to Table 4 for specific well
completion details. The well be secured and protected from surface traffic with a water-tight
locking expansion cap and 8-inch-diameter, traffic-rated, watertight street box.
Shallow Groundwater Monitoring Well Completion
The monitoring wells will be constructed of 2-inch diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC)blank
casing and 0.020-inch-slot well screen(Figure 4). The well screen will be installed
approximately ten feet above and ten feet below the water table. A sand filter pack will be
placed within the annulus of the well from the bottom of the boring to approximately three feet
above the top of the well screen. The annulus of the well will be sealed with 2-3 feet of
bentonite on top of the sand, and a portland cementlbentonite slurry to the surface(Table 4).
Each well be secured and protected from surface traffic with a water-tight locking expansion
cap and 8-inch-diameter, traffic-rated,watertight street box or three-foot-tall stove pipe.
Well Development
Each monitoring well will be developed by surging and pumping to remove fine grained
sediments from the well and sand pack. Periodic measurements of pH, conductivity and
temperature will be made during development to establish baseline values for groundwater. All
water generated during the development activities will be stored in DOT approved 55 gallon
drums pending disposal.
Well Surveying
After each wellhead is properly finished and set,the new wells will be professionally surveyed
to establish horizontal position in relation to pertinent Site features and elevation with respect
to mean sea level. The location and elevation of the existing four groundwater monitoring
wells(MW-1,MW-2, MW-3, and MW-4) and four domestic wells (DM-1, DM-2, DM-3, and
DM-4)will also be included in the professional survey.
Fkn--GeoPrabe&WcU.Lw
