A
Revised Work Plan For Soil and Groundwater Assessment I1
Ranch Market,23569 South Santa Fe Road Riverbank California April 25,2000
Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling
Groundwater Monitoring Wells
Following installation, the five new wells and four existing wells will be monitored and
sampled. All equipment used to monitor the depth to groundwater and to purge the well will be
decontaminated before entering the well. Prior to collecting a water Sample, the depth to
groundwater and the depth to the bottom of each well will be gauged using an electronic water
level meter. Based on the measurements of water level and well depth, three to four well casing
volumes will be removed using a down hole submersible pump or bailer. Measurements of
temperature,pH, and conductivity will be taken periodically to assure that representative
groundwater is present in the well prior to sampling. All purge water will be placed in DOT
55-gallon drums on Site for temporary storage pending disposal. Water samples will be
collected using a disposable bailer and decanted into six 40-m1 VOA vials. Each VOA vial
will be filled and checked to insure that no air bubbles are present.
Domestic Water Wells
The four domestic water wells will be also be sampled in conjunction with the groundwater
monitoring wells. Water samples will be collected from each domestic well between the pump
and holding tank or immediately downstream of the holding tank. Water samples will be
collected in six 40-m1 VOA vials. Each VOA vial will be filled and checked to insure that no
air bubbles are present.
Per the RWQCB request, monthly water samples will be collected from domestic well DM-I
starting on April 28, 2000. The results of the monthly sampling will be incorporated into the
quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling report. In the event any chemicals of concern
are reported in the monthly water samples collected from DM-1, the laboratory data will be
faxed to the RWQCB and the property owner will be called.
Water Sample Analyses
The water samples will be labeled with the well number, placed in an insulated container on
ice, and transported under standard chain-of-custody procedures to Kiff Analytical located in
Davis, California. The water samples were analyzed for BTEX; TPHg; Oxygenates including,
MtBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, and TAME; and fuel additives 1,2-DCA and EDB using EPA
method 8260 B.
Fe:aaAeoPMt WeHWIM P
