.r
Limited Site Investigation 1 Terracon
±19.41 Acres Vacant Land ■ Manteca, California
June 12, 2017 ■ Terracon Project No. NB177049
SCOPE OF WORK
Objectives
The objective of the LSI is to perform subsurface soil and groundwater sampling and analysis to
evaluate the presence/absence of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), volatile organic
compounds (VOCs), and CAM 17 metals in the onsite soil and/or groundwater beneath the Site.
Utility Clearance & Geophysical Survey
Following authorization to proceed and no later than 72 hours prior to intrusive activities, Terracon
will contact a utility locator, California DigAlert, to arrange for underground utility location at the
Site.
Health & Safety Plan
A Health and Safety Plan (H&SP) has been prepared to address worker safety issues per OSHA
requirements (29 CFR 1910.120). Level D personnel protection, which typically includes gloves,
boots, and hard hat, is planned for workers unless site conditions indicate higher levels of worker
protection may be necessary.
Soil Borings, Groundwater Temporary Sampling Wells, Sampling, and Analysis
This section describes the methods to be used for completing soil borings, converting them to
temporary sampling wells, collecting soil and groundwater samples, and analytical test methods.
Soil Borings
Drilled borings to depths greater than 5-feet below ground surface (bgs) will be performed by a
California C-57 licensed drilling contractor under the supervision of a California Professional
Engineer or Geologist. A geologist experienced with investigation and remediation of chemical
releases will be present during drilling to collect samples, maintain logs of the borings, and make
observations of site conditions, with oversight by a California Professional Engineer or Geologist.
Terracon field staff will advance soil borings at the site as shown on the attached site diagram.
Borings will be drilled using a 2% - inch outside diameter (O.D.) direct push technology (DPT)
percussion drilling rig using 4-foot clear acetate liners for continuous soil sampling. Soil borings will
be advanced to an approximate maximum depth of 30-feet below ground surface (bgs), as soil
samples are continuously collected during drilling.
Soil Sampling
During drilling, soil cores and/or cuttings will be collected continuously for soil logging purposes.
Soil samples will be selected from continuous cores by a geologist experienced with investigation
and remediation of chemical releases under the supervision of a California Professional Engineer
or Geologist. Visual observations, and a photoionization detector (PID) will be used as a
screening tool for identifying potentially contaminated soils in the field. Terracon estimates that
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 2
