`. ...
Memo From the Desk of DIANE HINSON
To: DONNA RERAN, DIRECTOR
Date: AUGUST 11, 1994
Subject: UPDATE ON THE UST CLEANUP AT THE HSA FACILITY
I spoke to Richard Calistro Tuesday morning (he called me) and the consultant working
on the proposed workplan to replace two of the dry monitoring wells will be contacting me
for specifics on locations of the wells.
The facility has two wells on the eastern portion of the parcel (MW42 & MW#3) that were
drilled to a depth of 28 feet and have become dry. These are data points that are vital to
evaluating the condition of the groundwater.
We also discussed the alleged $200,000 that had been "earmarked" for the cleanup. Mr.
Calistro stated that the amount was somewhere in that amount, but was to be used for all
the cleanups not just the HSA cleanup. We then briefly discussed the parking garage on
Hunter Street that will need to undergo an extensive investigation due to the severity of the
soil contamination. We will be setting up a meeting for later this month to prioritize all of
the County's contaminated sites.
Mr. Calistro stated that he is directly involved only with the HSA project; Craig Ogata and
Jim Leonard are working on all the other contaminated County sites.
I will keep you informed following our August meeting.
