Hinson, Supervising R.E.H.S. taptp
Site Mitigation Unit 1
SUBJECT: HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY (HSA) ; FORMER UNDERGROUND STORAGE
TANK (UST) CONTAMINATED SITE
On May 12, 1994, I met with Richard Callistro, Craig Ogata, and
Jim Leonard to discuss the HSA cleanup, the application process
for funding through the State Water Resources Control Board's
(SWRCB) Cleanup Fund, and to discuss prioritization for the
County' s various UST cleanup sites.
It is my understanding that Mr. Ogata has made application for
the County UST sites for which Government Buildings is
responsible, and that Mr. Callistro has made application for the
Cleanup Fund for the HSA UST site.
My discussion with Mr. Callistro focused on the Cleanup Fund
application process for the HSA and the County funding that was
set aside in this year's budget.
We discussed the area near the entrance to the building that
currently lacks a monitoring well. In order to determine the
full extent of the groundwater contaminant plume, a well within
this area will be required.
As I mentioned in my April 29, 1994 memorandum, the public health
and environmental impacts cannot be completely understood with
the current monitoring wells and current soil information. The
placement of the additional well (s) in close proximity to the
original UST locations, in addition to the soil investigation
requested by PHS/EHD March 14 , 1994, will provide much needed
information.
We are anticipating a workplan very soon to continue the
investigation.
cc: Michael N.
