PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
I A number of problems with the report were encountered during review.
1. The reported detection limits (1 ppb) for benzene (B) toluene (T)
ethylbenzene (E) and xylene (X) analysis were higher than the minimum
detection limits (.5 ppb BTEX) as recommended in the Tri-Regional Board
Staff Recommendations dated 10 August 1990. PHS/EHD was informed by
laboratory personnel that the required minimum detections limits could not
be achieved. In the future, the detection limits listed in the Tri-Regional
Board Staff Recommendations should be utilized.
2. Table 2 contained the following errors.
The reporting limit for TPH-gasoline, according to the lab report was 50 ppb
not 0.5 ppb as the table indicated.
Contaminants were detected, but were reported as ND, which indicated that
none were detected. Contaminants that were detected but not reported
included the following:
MW6 - 46 ppb TPH-gasoline and
MW7 - 37 ppb TPH-diesel.
A Urcia.m nf'an f"auwn:.xmr:H<M IIs"I
