Sampline Procedure and Analysis Schedule
' Five monitoring wells were sampled Monitonng wells MW-2 and MW-3 were checked for
sampling but were dry The sampling order was as follows
' 1 MW-5
2 MW-4
3 MW-6
' 4 MW-8
5 MW-7
' To sample each well, a teflon bailer was attached to new thin braided nylon line and lowered
into the well by hand The bailer was filled, and brought to the surface The water in the bailer
was carefully poured into laboratory prepared glass and plastic bottles and capped with teflon
' lined caps Samples were labeled with stick-on labels filled out in indelible ink, with the
following information
' Site name
Date collected
' Time collected
Sample I D
Sampler's initials
Analysis required
Quality control/quality assurance procedures consisted of the collection of a blind duplicate, an
' equipment decontamination nnsate sample and two trip blanks The duplicate was collected
concurrently with sample MW-5 and was given the fictitious well/sample name MW-10 The
equipment decontamination samples (labeled MW-11 and MW-12, collected on the first and
' second sampling day, respectively) were collected from a bailer which had been cleaned by the
normal decontamination procedure Distilled water was poured into the decontaminated bailer
and then the water was poured from the bailer into the sample bottles This sample acts as a
' check on the decontamination of the bailer, ensuring that it has been effectively cleaned A
laboratory prepared trip blank accompanied the samples in the sample cooler on each day
' Samples were placed with ice in an insulated chest for delivery with a Chain-of-Custody
document to the WESTON Analytics' laboratory in Stockton, California This laboratory is
' certified by the State of California to perform the required analyses Samples were submitted
for analysis of BTEX, TPH-G, TPH-D, EDB, and total lead The equipment decontamination
samples and the trip blanks were analyzed only for BTEX (Table A-4) A copy of the Chain-of-
Custody
hain-ofCustody document is included with the Analytical Report presented in Appendix B
Decontamination and Health and Safety Procedures
All devices used to purge the wells and collect the water samples (including bailers, pumps,
purge lines, etc ) were decontaminated prior to first use and between uses for each sampling
The new thin nylon line used to lower the bailer into the well was disposed of after each use and
not reused The pump that was used to purge the wells was decontaminated by inserting it into
' 1IM/Sic WP A - 16 MUM
