' 29 June 2001
AGE-NC Project No 97-0343
' chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI) a Department of Health Services
(DHS)-approved laboratory The ground water samples were analyzed for
' • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Methods 5030/8015 Modified and 3550/8015 Modified, respectively,
' • Volatile aromatic compounds-benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX)and
methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 602/8020, and
I • Fuel oxygenates - MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl-tertiary butyl ether (ETBE),
tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260 Modified
I
3.4. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction andgr adient were determined from field data collected on
07 May 2001, the contaminant impact to ground water was assessed from the laboratory analytical
data
l3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
I At the time of the May 2001 sampling event, depths to ground water in wells MW 1 through MW7
ranged from 47 19 feet to 48 44 feet below the well heads Ground water elevations at the site ranged
from 22 33 feet below mean sea level (MSL) in well MWS to 22 59 feet below MSL in well MW7
I (Table 1) Ground water elevations at the site increased an average 107 feet since the first quarter
2001 monitoring event During this monitoring event, the depths to ground water in the wells were
approximately 7 19 to 13 32 feet below the tops of the well screens, indicating that the wells are
screened properly and yield representative shallow ground water samples
The ground water flow direction was inferred to be flowing to the west-northwest at an average
hydraulic gradient of 0 002 feet/feet Figure 3 illustrates the contoured ground water elevations as
measured on 07 May 2001
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
ITPH-g was detected in ground water samples collected from MW1, MW2 and MW3 at
concentrations of 680 µg/1, 2,600 µg/1, and 420 ,ug/l, respectively TPH-d was detected in ground
I
Advanced GeoEnvtronmental,Inc
I
