Mr.
Borgas explained that Mr. Lucas Fiat, a neighbor to Southwest Hide Company's
Manteca facility, had submitted construction proposals for three irrigation wells
on nearby or adjacent property.
Mr. Hat has indicated that two of the wells are to be located along Grays Road,
approximately one half mile to the north, and will be of twelve inch diameter
construction. Mr. Hat estimated that each well will produce 500 gallons per
minute and will be pumped for one twenty-four hour period per week. The third
well will be constructed approximately 50 to 100 feet west of the existing Hat
well on Palm Road. This well will be of ten inch diameter construction and is
estimated by the owner to produce 400 gallons per minute. This well is also
expected to be pumped for a twenty-four hour cycle, once per week.
Any well constructed near the Southwest Hide Company Manteca facility, if
extensively pumped, may adversely affect the plume of salt contaminated ground
water. It is understood, however, that the above wells will be pumped for
relatively short intervals during the primary irrigation season, Given the above
stated limited usage, MEC believes that these proposed wells will probably have
little affect on the Southwest Hide plume of salt contaminated ground water.
If you have any questions on the above comments, please contact. Kurt Balasek or
me at (916) 756-2250.
Sincerely,
A. kAher L.S. , P.
